Gart

We visit the medieval city of Algues Mortes, which was the starting point of the crusades. We see ramparts coloured with seven centuries of history, and are considered superb examples of military architecture. This area is primarily agricultural and has changed little over the centuries. We experience many of unusual wildlife of the area such as flamingos, tortoises, small breeds of wild horses and herds of small black bulls. The Pont du Gard is visited, the highest of all aqueduct bridges built by the Romans during the reign of Caesar Augustus in 19 B.C. We also see the beautiful native flora including wild champignons or mushrooms. Recipes include: Gratin de Champignons, Fillet and Tongues of Starfish and Glazed Fruit.
