Epernay

This town is known for its Champagne industry. In this region we visit some of the most beautiful houses including Moet et Chandon’s renaissance style mansion. In addition to his house, this champagne founder’s estate boasts thousands of acres and spectacular vineyards. Epernay hides its treasures underground, for underneath the city streets millions of bottles of champagne are quietly awaiting maturity. We also visit the small village of Prunay and the workshop of Daniel Deshayes, an artisan who engraves Champagne bottles. Recipes include: Cotellete d Homard au Champagne (lobster and duck liver), Chicken in Mustard Sauce and a dessert, Gratin des Fruits au Sabayon de Champagne or fruit in Champagne sauce.
