(from Flavours of France (UK):

In the most northern part of the Loire Valley is the town of Chartres. The landmark of Chartres is its spectacular cathedral, Notre Dame, now 800 years old, and considered to be a triumph of gothic art. The cathedral is also famous for its numerous stained glass windows. Cartres remains as one of those special towns in France which will give us a graphic insight into the medieval world.

A gastronomic speciality from the nearby town of Voves is pigs cheeks and then onto the town of Tours for a Foie Gras recipe with a difference.

Here in the heart of the Loire Valley making perfume is a very old tradition as is its production of goat cheese and fine wine.

This show also includes two recipes from a very special candy maker whose secrets go back nearly 200 years.
